Through this class I have learned how to reflect and take objectively take other people’s perspectives into my ideas.
I have done sports my whole life so I have learned how to push through the hard times when I want to give up and quit and this has translated into how I deal with school. I know there is an end goal I have to meet and it’s easy to keep going when you have that.
The tips I would give is to be prepared, know that it’s easier than it seems and to try to have some fun with it.

I really enjoyed reading your post Courtney. I am happy that this class has taught you about how to reflect and take things objectively. I am also glad that this class has also made you open to new ideas. Playing sports is a great way to learn about tenacity in my opinion. I grew up playing a variety of sports and I agree that it can get difficult especially when you start playing competitively but it makes it much more satisfying when you win.
ReplyDeleteThank you Courtney, I enjoyed reading your post. I think you gave some really good advice for new students entering the class. I think the most important advice you gave was to “have fun with it”. I think that part of the equation can get lost when you treat all the classes like a grind however this class definitely lends itself to have fun and express yourself.
ReplyDeleteFeedback is important for any endeavor. It's just especially difficult when you can see that person's body language. You end up having to give everyone the benefit of the doubt when impersonally reading their comments. Thankfully, it seems everyone tries to make this as painless as possible. To build a bit on your idea to "have fun with it" — there's no point in going through the motions while miserable. Sure, sometimes it can't be helped. But the pessimistic view of nothing having meaning and the 'bureaucracy' inundating us just leads us to look and feel like the stereotypical DMV worker. Look for the little things and the not-so-obvious value (along with the clear value) of your work.
