Growing Your Social Capital

I decided to talk to someone  who is a Tinder rep because it relates to my product. They are a domain expert for my product. I found them through mutual friends so I just asked them for their number. The favor they did for me was just tell me a little bit about more about the matching process and about the industry that I didn't know. I will keep in touch with this person and possibly make them a rep for my app in the future. This experience made me realize that it is easy to network with people and get help.

  1. Glad to hear everyone is finding out that networking isn't nearly as bad as many assume. Business is intimidating and that doesn't mesh with the current social reality of keeping to our own devices. What other online meet-up sites could you contact? I know of apps that are friend-finders, date-finders, and tutor-finders. Keep an eye out for ideas from those as well. Your post seems a little short, but I'm sure you have a reason for that. Keep up the good work.

  2. Hi, Courtney, I enjoyed reading your post. That's pretty cool that you were able to talk to someone in the exact industry that you were targeting. Who you know is often times the reason a business succeeds or fails. I am curious as to what this tinder rep actually does for tinder though. Was he/she on the technical aspect side or somthing else. The more people you talk to though, the more of a chance there is for you to find someone willing to help you out.

  3. Hi Courtney. I like that you chose a representative from Tinder because the app that you are trying to create is extremely similar to it. I think there are many things to be learned from this representative in how the manage an app like this as well as how they are able to change what they need to change. Great post!

  4. Hey Courtney, thank you for the post. I think it was a great idea to reach out to a tinder rep or your idea. Tinder basically invented the dating app so they would have both the infrastructure and tools to know how to set up your app. Overall I hope you gained alot from that conversation and gathered a lot of information about your app from it.
