Readings
I chose to read about Coco Chanel because I already know a little bit about her story and love the brand she created. You would never guess that the creator of the brand most associated with luxury and beauty was an orphan that came from poverty. The nuns in her orphanage taught her how to sew and that’s how she got into making clothes. I admire how she took men’s fashion and made it feminine, but still strong. She made classic fashion statements that are eternally timeless. I don’t know how she could have such foresight into the future of fashion and create such a powerful statement behind her brand. I assume because the strength and class in her translated into her designs and company, but I’d ask her that if I had the chance.

I really enjoyed reading your post Courtney. I really like how you chose to read about someone you do not know much about. I think that would have made a more interesting read. It seems that you really respect Chanel and I can see why. I am sure her story was an fascinating read. Your post is making me want to read her biography as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Courtney, I enjoyed reading your post. Going into your post, I knew nothing about Coco Chanel. After reading your post, I think her story sounds very interesting and I would love to get to know more about her. I am also glad you picked someone based on what they stood for. I picked Elon Musk because of his outlook on the future.
ReplyDeleteI think this was an excellent post Courtney. I think it is super important to read about someone that you know something about since it helps keep the interest while learning more. It also sounds like you really care about the message the Coco Chanel was trying to convey which only adds to the way you described her in your post.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same situation as Stephen: I knew nothing of Coco Chanel before this post. After immediately seeing she started in an orphanage run by nuns, I also became interested. Sometimes we don't have to have foresight to make an impact (per-say), but it can just take a hunch. Or market trend research. Both can work. It sounds like you enjoyed your time going through her story.
