Failures

I failed this semester when I was late to an FLA session. It was in a different location than usual so I was going to have to Uber there. I made sure to call the Uber 20 minutes early so nothing could go wrong. After 18 minutes, the uber still wasn't there to pick me up and I was going to be late. I had to ask my roommate to scoot me there. I was really upset to be late to the first session because it doesn't make a great first impression. Even though I tried to prevent this, I know uber is not always reliable and I should've asked my roommate to take me from the beginning. I will have to keep this in mind when I have other important things like interviews and meetings.

  1. Dear Courtney, thank you for sharing your post. I liked the failure that you described in your post. We have all been there and missed a class or two because of timing. I also liked your resolution. I see this as a great question you could potentially pose in an interview for how you overcame an obstacle. However, I think you could have picked a failure that was more harsh. If we have to do a post like this again, I challenge you to explain a failure that was more higher stakes.

  2. Dear Courtney, I really enjoyed reading your post. The failure you wrote about is interesting because it was not exactly your fault. If everything went according to plan, you would not have been late. However, most things do not go according to plan which was exemplified in your post. Sometimes bad luck strikes when you least expect it and I like how you have resolved to use more reliable methods in the future to prevent this from happening again.

  3. That's a rather unfortunate circumstance. But now you understand the need for contingencies. We don't always control our fate or even our immediate surroundings. So cultivating the ability to "go with the flow", as it were, is necessary for much of our lives. We don't get much say in the direction of life, but we have to take advantage of what we can control.
