Reflection

It was fun reading through my posts from the semester and seeing how my ideas developed. I have been passionate about this idea from day one, but seeing it become more realistic and developed was cool. I did not like having to think of the logistical aspects, but I understand that is part of business.

I am most proud of my venture concept because it is developed and makes it seem like I can actually create this app. I also like reading about Coco Chanel, because I love the brand and she is a very interesting woman and I learned a lot from that assignment.

I think I have moved towards having an entrepreneurial mindset and wanting to start my own thing, but I don't know if I am there completely yet. I think I still want experience in the corporate world before I go off on my own.

For future students, I recommend picking a product that you are actually passionate about and could use yourself because it will make the assignments more interesting. If not, you will get bored and dread writing about your product. You will also do better in the course if this is the case.

  1. Thank you Courtney on the post. I agree with almost everything you said. I think students should also pick a product they are passionate about. I did not realize how long we would be using the same product in this class and I may have spent more time coming up with a business venture if I knew it would stick with me this long. I also agree that I have more confidence to go out and create my product.

  2. Courtney, I really enjoyed reading your post. I completely agree with how cool it was to see your idea develop from just a vague concept to a solid pursuable venture opportunity. I really liked your advice to future students. I did not think of that even though it is really important. Picking and opportunity that you are actually interested in makes the class much more interesting making it easier and more enjoyable.

  3. I just wish I could have come up with a better topic. Looking around me at outside problems wasn't a routine until this class came along. This course may be better for students already in entrepreneurial situations; it forces you to think of a different idea and work through it parallel to your main venture. Then, those ideas can be cross-referenced across both ventures and reinforce what he teaches verbally.

  4. Courtney, I had a really good time reading your post. It is crazy to think that the semester is finally coming to an end which means an end to this class. I had a great time following your idea of this app and seeing how it blossomed into a full-fledged product. It is really cool not only to see how far I have come as an entrepreneur, but everyone else in this class as well.
